Process Books
The following is a set of books created to reflect on my process during the Fall of 2018. Each book represents a single project done during the semester.
From a project in which I designed an imaginary monogram for the actor Clark Gable, as though he were my client. I designed the monogram as a combination of his two initials, and then applied this monogram to a business card. The monogram is intended to be applicable to a variety of business materials.
A project in which I designed a book jacket for Toni Morrison’s Beloved. I created a “stage” on which I sculpted a human back, and then created scars on that back to reference the symbolism and plot of the book. I then photographed this stage to use as the book cover, and created the rest of the jacket around it.
From a project in which I illustrated 3 classic nursery rhymes intended to be used as banners and book plates in a library. I created these illustrations out of fabric and then photographed them for the final illustrations and products.
A project in which I designed a poster of data about the emotions of my friend and I. Every hour for a week, we noted our emotions on a scale of 1-10, and this poster compares my overall emotional experience to hers.
From a project in which I designed a calendar poster of events that were happening at my University.
A project in which I created a set of characters and an animatic based on a title of a story given to me. I wrote the plot to match this title, and then designed the characters to be able to tell the story effectively.
From a project in which I designed a book based on a TED talk about the use of psychedelics in the treatment of mental illness. The book featured illustrations done by Oliver Hibert alongside the text.
