Desert Animals: Shady Shelters

This poster is a collection of illustrations of desert animals. I was tasked with creating these illustrations and then organizing them onto a poster alongside information about each animal.

I chose to organize the poster as though each animal was in a burrow, since this is how many animals in the desert stay cool. They are seen sleeping, since the burrows are where they can sleep safely.

I chose to illustrate the animals using cool colors, as opposed to their local color, in order to show that they are escaping the heat through these burrows. The title of the poster, along with the high-level body text, is set in yellow-orange to convey the desert heat.

All of the text of the poster is set in Omnes. The rounded edges of this font mimic the rounded edges of the illustrations. Additionally, the font was legible at small sizes for body text, but was also interesting enough at large sizes and heavy weights to be used in an expressive way for the title.
